John Jamelske was a serial kidnapper and rapist who terrorized the Syracuse, New York area in the early 2000s. He kidnapped five women between 1988 and 2003, holding them captive in a soundproof dungeon underneath his home. Jamelske would subject his victims to physical and sexual abuse for weeks or months at a time before releasing them.
Jamelske was eventually caught in 2003 after one of his victims managed to escape and contact the police. He was convicted of kidnapping, rape, and other charges and sentenced to 18 years to life in prison. In 2015, Jamelske died in prison at the age of 83.
The case of John Jamelske shocked and horrified the community, and his crimes continue to be remembered as one of the most notorious cases of kidnapping and abuse in recent history.
